9 October 2023 - With Commander James Nisbet, the London Area Officer who is responsible for 48 Sea Cadet Units across London and Essex and leads a team of 900 volunteers and 1600 cadets.
9 October 2023 - It was a delight for Marian and I to be shown around HMS President, the largest Royal Naval Reserve unit in the country by Commander James Nisbet.

19 August 2023 - World Cup Fever ! Didn’t the Ladies Football team do well! Such a fantastic example of teamwork, commitment, and professionalism.
August 23 - A seat by the Thames? 15 winners were selected by HM’s Tower of London from the 15k entries from schools in a competition to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
August 23 - It was poignant to visit the Windrush Walkway of Memories in Tilbury with my colleague Kenny who was born in the ‘swinging 60’s’ within the sound of the Bow Bells. As he says...’ In many respects, it was a great time to be born! However, coming into the world as a black man in the 60’s meant something quite different.

28 July 2023 - Marian and I greatly enjoyed a visit to Gripple as part of our Civic visit to Sheffield. Run by an old friend Hugh Facey, Gripple are a leading manufacturer of wire joiners and tensioners for agriculture, innovative suspension systems for construction, and engineered solutions for civil and solar and infrastructure .
25 July 2023 - Delighted to host the senior Civic Delegation from Xi’an, and to show them around the Old Bailey …and to see the Terra Cotta Warrior the City of Xi’an presented to us in 2020.

12 July 2023 - A fascinating and very educational visit to the Proof House – home of the Gunmaker’s Company – one of only two Companies still practising their craft from their Hall.
10 July 2023 - In landmark speeches at the Financial & Professional Services Dinner, The Chancellor of the Exchequers, the Governor of the Bank of England and the Lord Mayor announced they had counter signed a “Mansion House Compact” with nine leading pension funds.
6 July 2023 - Deeply moved to get “Three Cheers for The Sheriff”…”plus one for good luck!” from the Lower School when I attended the City of London Freemen’s School to present the awards to the Senior School on Prize Day.
5 July 2023 - Deeply honoured to represent The City at the Service to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the NHS at the glorious Westminster Abbey.
4 July 2023 - Honoured to meet HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the Bahrain Business Reception held at Mansion House.
4 July 2023 - Marriage is a hugely important institution. It binds society together and makes us stronger. The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act was passed on the 17th of July 2013, and the first marriage of same-sex couple took place on Saturday, the 29th of March 2014. 10 years on, it seemed appropriate that we celebrate how far we have come hosting a specially themed luncheon: yet recognise there are continuing differences in the treatment of same-sex couples.

26 June 2023 - Successors Elected ...For only the 8th time in 80 years the Livery were asked to support the election of two members of the Court of Alderman as Sheriffs for the new shrieval year beginning in September.
24 June 2023 - The Lord Mayor of London and The Sheriffs, The Lord Mayor of Westminster and the Mayors of the London Boroughs gathered for Evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral. Certainly caused a stir amongst the photographers and some passing tourists.
23 June 2023 - To mark UK Armed Forces Day, I held a special lunch with guest of honour Normandy Veteran the extraordinary 98 years young Ken Cook.
21 June 2023 - In a fitting, and very early start to the two day Ukraine Recovery Conference in London, Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko opened The LSE, and Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, took this opportunity to announce the U.K.'s updated commitments of a further $3 billion.
20 June 2023 - Honoured to be asked to attend the Community and Children’s Services Dinner at Guildhall with other guests from across the broad children’s social care services commissioning and service provider spectrum of The City and Greater London.

18 June 2023 – Glasgow Cathedral where, at the end of The Livery Weekend, the Lord Mayor, we Sheriffs, the Masters and Prime Wardens of The City of London, and those of Sheffield, York and Bristol, together with the members of The Trades House, gathered for our farewell service.
17 June 2023 – Day 2 The evening saw us having the Gala Dinner in the splendid ‘more marble than the Vatican’ City Chambers, home of the Lord Provost and Council of Glasgow. Wow!

11 May 2023 - The outstanding result of this year’s Big Curry Lunch was announced at the Mansion House by the Lord Mayor. Not only was the target of raising £325,000 surpassed but, after expenses, under the brilliant leadership of Chair Michael Hockney the team raised the record sum of £435,000!

The Lord Mayor wore the Coronation Robe from the Skinners; and critically, the new Anointing Screen, gifted by the Livery and Corporation, shielded the King from public gaze at the most sacred moment in the Coronation

27 Jan 23 - Final debriefing with the Embassy team in Warsaw - our humbling but extremely productive and inspirational visits to Kiev and Lviv in the Ukraine.
26 Jan 23 - A final visit in Lviv to the beautiful and ancient Cathedral, with all the external aspects wrapped to protect them from damage, provides a source of spiritual strength for many.

26 Jan 23 - Every picture tells a story ...unfortunately This lady lost her leg. Her daughter lost both legs…and her unborn sister.
26 Jan 23 - In Lviv 5k people needed prosthetics, so the Mayor set up a bionic prosthetic unit at the local hospital to make these rapidly on site.
25 Jan 23 - Arrived safely in Lviv, the largest city in the west of Ukraine, and had a detailed briefing from the Chamber of Commerce.
24 Jan 23 - Excellent briefing from the Kiev Chamber of Commerce on the impact of the war on the economy and the massive and innovative business response of the Ukrainians to this.

15 Dec 22 - Honoured to be asked to present the Old Bailey Witness Service, three year delayed, Long Service Awards. These extraordinary people help, often distressed, witnesses cope with the experience of appearing in Court. 5, 10, 15 and several 20-year Awards were made, including one to the daughter of a recently deceased member. Bravo!
15 Dec 22 – 98% of businesses in The City are SMEs. Their needs, at every stage of their development, were forthcoming from true experts in the field attending my themed meeting on the subject, followed by a truly fascinating discussion on what The City might do to help.
