A tree planting in Epping Forest in memory of Sir Roger Gifford; the laying of the foundation stone for the new Justice Quarter by (the then) Lord Chancellor Brandon Lewis; a 6am visit to Smithfield; the 50th fishing match to test the water quality of the Thames with lots of young people taking part; meeting 60 RUC widows whose husbands were murdered by the IRA; launch meeting for the Lord Mayor’s Show; the 7am opening of the Stock Exchange for City Giving Day; opening an international Public Relations conference; giving several tours of the Old Bailey; a military briefing on the City Reserve Forces and Cadets; a school prize giving with 400 prizes; presenting awards for extreme bravery; a book launch; Big Curry Lunch Launch meeting; a wonderful Valedictory Address for HHJ Richard Hone KC, recently deceased; the formal Opening of the Old Bailey; the Admission of Sheriffs and the Sheriff’s Breakfast; the Election of the new Lord Mayor; a Common Council meeting with TWO divisions; taking a launch up the Thames to attend the ancient Quit Rents Ceremony and there being presented with our Warrants by the King’s Remembrancer; Representative Lord Mayor twice; the Presentation of the Lord Mayor Elect at the House of Lords; two church services…oh, and 17 dinners, 10 lunches, 3 breakfasts, a Defence Lecture and a launch event for the Power of Inclusion Programme. A relaxed first month.
